Introduction
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. Modern slavery takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labor and human trafficking, all of which deprive victims of their liberty and exploit them for personal or commercial gain. Heim Health is opposed to modern slavery or human trafficking. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking statement reflects our ongoing efforts and commitment to fully comply with all applicable laws and regulations to help mitigate risks relating to human trafficking in our business operations or those of our suppliers.
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This statement is made in accordance with section 541 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Heim Health Ltd has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking do not take place within our business or supply chains.
Our Commitment
Heim Health has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
Our Supply Chains
Our supply chains include:
● Independent practitioners such as registered nurses, healthcare assistants and phlebotomists
● Software and cloud service providers
● Suppliers of healthcare equipment and consumables
While most of our suppliers operate within the UK, where the risk of modern slavery is considered low, we remain vigilant in monitoring for risks, particularly in relation to temporary and contract labour.
Policies and Controls
To mitigate the risk of modern slavery, Heim Health has adopted the following measures: Page 1 | 2
● A Supplier Code of Conduct that includes specific prohibitions against the use of forced or trafficked labour
● Contractual clauses requiring compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 for high-risk suppliers
● Internal procedures to assess and vet suppliers prior to engagement
● Whistleblowing procedures to encourage the reporting of any unethical or unlawful practices
Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
We evaluate potential risk areas in our supply chains, particularly when engaging with new partners or suppliers. Our focus includes:
● Reviewing the geographical location of suppliers
● Understanding labour practices and hiring models
● Conducting informal due diligence during supplier onboarding
Training and Awareness
Heim Health continuously aims to raise awareness of modern slavery among staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier engagement, and clinical operations. This is achieved through training at the time of employee onboarding, covering:
● How to identify signs of modern slavery
● How to report concerns or suspicions
● Understanding legal responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act
